women's conference

i had a few hours to contemplate "ME," yesterday! dusty watched the boys while i went to a stake women's conference.
{this look is one brackon gives us when he is shy, excited, but trying to maintain his masculinity}
i learned how EVIL this world is... as if we didn't know already right?! these cute little boys of mine... how innocent they are... how vulnerable...
we have to be STRONG... our roots have to be deep. and we have to TEACH them and help them so their roots are deeply planted... so the storms won't be able to blow them away...

would you want your child, before they graduate from elementary school to:

  • see more than 8000 murders
  • more than 100,000 other assorted acts of violence, such as assaults.
By the time they graduate from ELEMENTARY SCHOOL?!!!!!!

Did you know the average American child watches an average of 40 hours per week of TV and videos, playing computer games, and so on. WOW!!! that's A LOT of WASTED time!!!

well.
you might want to read this article: "It's 'Only' Violence"

you can rest assured the precious boys on this post WON'T become a part of these statistics.

OH Linz!!! I hope that stays true! It is sooooo hard!! Even when you limit everything in your home, video games, computer time, movie time, etc.... then they visit a friend's house, even a member friend, and if the parents aren't as diligent there, they are exposed. Teachers at school show them things (and unfortunately, sometimes it even comes from their leaders at church). We just have to be totally on top of it---all the days of our lives. Thanks for being one of those parents who I can send my kids to!! YES!!! I am THAT strict!

I must say...I love reading your posts. They're often up spiritual "uplift" for the day! :)
Funny you should post this. I recently heard about parents trying to keep PG-13 movies out of the classrooms at school. I couldn't believe it! I've seen a few PG-13 movies lately that have been questionable for MYSELF - let alone a child! I really think society is becoming so desensitized that movies are just becoming more and more violent with time.
Randy and I just the other night had a conversation about it. I don't even like to call the dart gun a "gun" to Logan. Randy thinks it's silly...I think it's smart.
Thanks for the great post (and link!) I couldn't agree more.
