a purpose

so.
it's been a while since i've posted
but
i've been thinking.
a lot.

have you ever moved?
i mean moved hours and hundreds of miles away from family?

well.
it's not the easiest thing
in fact, i hate it.

it's been hard.

i've been thinking about my life
and why i'm here.
not only "here", but HERE on earth.

i've been thinking about the life of Christand his purpose... to save the souls of men
i've been thinking about joseph smithand his purpose... to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth.

"Only the life, teachings, and particularly the Atonement of Jesus Christ is the single most significant event that ever has or ever will occur. This selfless act of infinite consequence, performed by a single glorified personage, has eternal impact in the life of every son and daughter of our Father in Heaven-- without exception" -Richard G. Scott

so.
what's my purpose?
i have one.
i just have to discover it.
pray to know it
and then DO IT!
i stumbled across this book
and it has been awesome!!!!
"He Knows Your Heart" by Toni Sorenson Brown.
it is only a 100 page book. i am only on chapter 4.
i am trying to savor it's words. here's a few quotes i've liked so far:

"God does not begin by asking us about our ability, but only about our availability, and if we then prove our dependability, he will increase our capability" -Elder Neal A. Maxwell.

i've heard that before
but this time, it really rang true to my heart.

"Under the sacred and compelling trust we have as members of the Church of Jesus Christ, ours is a work of redemption, of lifting and saving those who need help. Ours is a task of raising the sights of those of our people who fail to realize the great potential that lies within them" -President Gordon B. Hinkley.

i LOVE that!
if there is only ONE thing i know
it's that I AM A DAUGHTER of GOD!
i am sooo grateful for that knowledge!
the knowledge that i lived in heaven with our heavenly father.
we are here on the earth to be tested and tried.
it's just a test!
will you (i) pass?!! :)

{Being Parents}... "The greatest trust that has been given to human beings... I believe a competent mother in every home is the GREATEST NEED in the world today" -President David O. McKay.

this is obviously one of my "purposes".
to be a mother.
to raise a righteous family
and enjoy the blessings of the temple... exaltation
and eternal life with my family.

the book goes on about what Jeffrey R. Holland talks about having "spiritual anorexia".
we need to FEAST upon the words of Christ.

(so yesterday, we were in primary and they were talking about feasting upon the words of Christ and comparing that to nibbling or feasting on "food"... i don't remember the question, but brackon raised his hand and talked about how we need to eat healthy!... but how true is that? we need to feast on good things, good music, good books, things that invite the spirit... i loved it!)

another favorite quote:
"Rise to the great potential within you. I do not ask that you reach beyond your capacity. I hope you will not nag yourselves with thoughts of failure. I hope you will not try to set goals far beyond your capacity to achieve. I hope you will simply do what you can do in the best way you know. If you do so, you will witness miracles come to pass" -President Gordon B. Hinkley

and one of my favorite parts so far in this book
talks about a husband who came home to find total mayhem in his house.
(i have to type this part because it is awesome) :)
"His children were outside, still in their pajamas, wrestling in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard. The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house. Inside, he found an even larger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall. In the family room the dog who always stayed outside was curled up on the sofa watching cartoons. The front room (the home teaching room, which was always spotless) was littered with toys and various items of clothing. In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door. He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she may be ill, or that something serious had happened. He found her lounging in the bedroom, still curled in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled and asked how his day went. He looked at here, bewildered, and asked, "What happened here today?"
She again smiled and answered, "You know every day when you come home from work and ask me what in the world I did today?"
"Yes," was his incredulous reply.
She answered, "Well, today I didn't do it." "

Don'tcha just LOVE LOVE LOVE that!?!!!!
so, if your husband always asks what you do all day, don't do anything one day and see what he says! :)

i really think we don't realize all that we as women do in a day.
if we made a list as we did our daily routines
i think we'd be surprise!

so...
i've been thinking
can you tell?!
***i'd highly recommend this book!

Thought I'd write a quick hello! I feel you longing for being near family. We moved to southern california about 5 months ago. Look like a great book I think that I will have to pick me up a copy. Thanks for sharing.

Great thoughts Linzy! Sorry it is hard.....As I have traveled around and lived in various wards and stakes, I am always grateful for a few choice people Heavenly Father put in my path to teach me, to love me, to learn from me....whatever the point. In each place, I have gathered a few more very, very close friends who make up my favorite people. Thanks for being one of those friends, even though our time together was so very short. (At least we have the internet and skype :-)
LOVE YOU!

Oh Linzy, I just love your inspiring posts. You always lift my spirits, and I wish I could do the same for you. I'm so sorry. I kinda know what it feels like to be far from family. I live close to several of my siblings, but I don't see them or talk to them often so they might as well be far away, but having a support system if needed is a big blessing always. If you ever need a friend to talk to to pass the time or having a rough day, just call me. I would love to talk to you! Hang in there!!
